Pizazoo vs Captr

Captr (by Aza IQ, Inc., on the App Store since June 2025) and Pizazoo both start from the screenshots in your iPhone photo library, then go in different directions. Captr asks why you took each screenshot and turns it into an action: a reminder, a calendar event, a product with a price, a place with directions, plus a daily feed that brings your saves back to you. Pizazoo treats screenshots as a library to sort into categories and search by their text, with the analysis done on the device and the same library on iPad and Mac. Pick by what you do with screenshots after you take them.

TL;DR: Captr turns iPhone screenshots into things to do: AI files them into lists and offers reminders, calendar events, directions and shopping links, processed in the cloud with an account. It is free. Pizazoo organizes and searches screenshots on the device, needs no account, and adds iPad and Mac apps, but it does not create reminders or shopping lists.

Pick by what your bottleneck is.

Pick Pizazoo when

  • You want screenshots analyzed on your device: Pizazoo runs OCR and categorization on iPhone, iPad and Mac, with no account and no Pizazoo server
  • You would rather not create an account (Captr requires one for the full service, through Sign in with Apple or Google)
  • You use an iPad: Pizazoo is a universal app with a sidebar layout, drag and drop and Apple Pencil markup; Captr is listed for iPhone only
  • You also take screenshots on a Mac: the Pizazoo Mac app watches the folders of the macOS screenshot tool, CleanShot X, Shottr and Xnapper, and Pro iCloud Sync keeps Mac, iPhone and iPad in step
  • Your screenshots are mostly code, errors, chats, receipts and documents you need to find again by their exact text, rather than products and plans
  • You want a markup editor on iPhone and iPad: pen, arrows, numbered steps, text, spotlight, magnify, blur or black out, crop and translate

Pick Captr when

  • You want screenshots turned into actions: add to calendar (including several dates from one newsletter or lineup), set a reminder, get directions, buy the product or open the original post
  • You screenshot things to buy: Captr shows a saved product’s price, which shop sells it and similar items, and refreshes prices on its own
  • You want a daily feed and morning briefing that resurface what you saved, instead of a library you have to open and search
  • You save links and social posts too: paste or share an article, recipe, product page, or TikTok, Instagram or YouTube post and Captr reads it
  • You want everything free: Captr is currently free for new users, while Pizazoo puts color tags, saved searches, custom categories and iCloud Sync in Pro
  • You want an app with a longer track record: Captr has been on the App Store since June 2025 and had 87 US ratings averaging 4.8 on October 6, 2026
  • You want duplicate and near-duplicate screenshots flagged for cleanup, or Home Screen widgets for what is coming up

Common questions

Pizazoo vs Captr: FAQ

What is the difference between Pizazoo and Captr?

Captr is built to act on screenshots: it reads each one with cloud AI, files it into a list and offers the next step, such as a reminder, a calendar event, directions or a place to buy. Pizazoo is built to organize and find screenshots: it sorts them into categories and makes their text searchable, on the device, on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Pizazoo does not create reminders or shopping lists.

Is Captr free?

Yes, for now. Captr’s Terms of Service (effective May 27, 2026) say it is currently free for new users, that some earlier subscribers keep their paid plans, and that new paid tiers may be added later. Its US App Store listing showed no in-app purchases on October 6, 2026. Some third-party comparisons mention a paid "Individual" plan; we could not find one on Captr’s own pages or its App Store listing. Pizazoo is free, with a one-time Pro from $14.99.

Does Captr upload my screenshots?

Yes. Captr keeps your saves in its cloud (its site says you can delete a screenshot from your phone once it is synced to Captr), and its privacy policy says OCR, link extraction, search and generative features are powered by third-party AI model providers that are contractually barred from keeping your data or training on it. Captr’s own terms allow it to use your content to improve and train its models. Pizazoo runs OCR and categorization on your device and has no server for your screenshots.

Do I need an account for Captr or Pizazoo?

Captr needs one to use the full service, and you sign in with Apple or Google. Pizazoo has no account system. If you turn on iCloud Sync (Pro), it uses your own private iCloud.

Does Captr work on iPad and Mac?

Captr is an iPhone app (iOS 17.6 or later). The App Store lists no iPad version, but the iPhone app can run on Apple silicon Macs with macOS 14.6 or later, where it is marked "Not verified for macOS," and on Apple Vision Pro. Pizazoo is a universal iPhone and iPad app and has a separate Mac app that also organizes the screenshots you take on the Mac.

Can Pizazoo turn a screenshot into a reminder or find where to buy something?

No. Pizazoo has no reminders, calendar events, directions or shopping features. If those are why you take screenshots, Captr is the better fit. Pizazoo is for finding screenshots again: on-device categories and text search, color tags and saved searches in Pro, and a markup editor.
