Compare · vs Snagit
Snagit has been the heavyweight screenshot editor on Mac for over a decade. Pizazoo 1.0.2 added a full markup editor on top of its on-device organizer, and the resulting overlap is large enough that the comparison is finally fair. Honest take: Snagit is more powerful for long-form documentation; Pizazoo wins on price, privacy, and finding screenshots later.
TL;DR: Snagit is the enterprise-standard capture and editor for Mac: deep tutorial workflows, scrolling captures, and TechSmith’s ecosystem. Pizazoo is a free editor + organizer with markup, redaction, watermark, signature, and a fully searchable OCR library. If you only need to edit a few screenshots a week, Pizazoo covers it for free.

Common questions
For the most common screenshot edit-and-share workflow, yes. Pizazoo’s free tier covers markup, redact, blur, watermark, signature, and library organization. Snagit is still ahead for long-form documentation, scrolling captures, and video.
If you mostly take static screenshots and annotate them, Pizazoo can fully replace Snagit and add a searchable library on top. If you produce step-by-step tutorials with scrolling captures and video, keep Snagit.
Yes. Pizazoo’s markup editor includes numbered step badges for tutorial screenshots, alongside arrows, callouts, text, and shapes.
No. Pizazoo processes everything on-device; the only optional sync is iCloud Sync (Pro) through your own private iCloud. Snagit’s cloud sharing is optional but it’s a primary distribution channel for Snagit users.
Not yet. If you need scrolling page captures, use Shottr or CleanShot X for capture and let Pizazoo organize and edit afterwards.
