Pizazoo vs CloudShots

CloudShots (by independent developer Leonid Resenchuk, on the App Store since September 2026) is one of the closest apps to Pizazoo: both are Apple-only, both run text recognition on the device, and both sync through your private iCloud with no account and no company server for your screenshots. The differences are in the workflow. CloudShots captures on the Mac, imports the iPhone Screenshots album, and charges for opening your full history. Pizazoo organizes captures from other Mac tools into categories and sells Pro only as a one-time purchase.

TL;DR: CloudShots and Pizazoo both keep a searchable screenshot library on Mac, iPhone and iPad that syncs through your own iCloud, with no account. CloudShots captures on the Mac and includes sync free, but its free tier opens only your newest 30 screenshots. Pizazoo does not capture, sorts screenshots into AI categories, and puts iCloud Sync in its one-time Pro.

Pick by what your bottleneck is.

Pick Pizazoo when

  • You want to keep capturing with the macOS tool, CleanShot X, Shottr or Xnapper and have the folders they save to organized automatically
  • You want screenshots sorted into categories (on-device AI), plus color tags, saved searches and custom categories in Pro, rather than one date timeline
  • You want a markup editor with pixelate, spotlight, magnifier, watermark, signature and numbered steps
  • You are on macOS 14 Sonoma or iOS 17 (CloudShots needs macOS 15 and iOS 18)
  • You only want one-time pricing: Pizazoo Pro starts at $15 for one Mac plus one iPhone or iPad, with no weekly or yearly plans

Pick CloudShots when

  • Moving iPhone screenshots to your Mac (and Mac screenshots to your iPhone) automatically is the main job, and you want that sync on the free tier
  • You want the same app to capture the full screen, a region or a window on the Mac
  • You mostly need recent screenshots: the free tier opens your newest 30
  • You want search by objects, meaning and phrases like "last week", plus AI-written names and summaries on Apple Intelligence devices
  • You want to clear synced originals out of Photos and your Mac to free space (Pro)
  • You want an Apple Watch view of your history, or to invite people to view or edit a screenshot through iCloud

Common questions

Pizazoo vs CloudShots: FAQ

What is the main difference between Pizazoo and CloudShots?

Both keep a private, searchable screenshot library that syncs through your own iCloud. CloudShots is built around capture and sync: it takes screenshots on the Mac, imports the iPhone Screenshots album, and shows everything in one timeline. Pizazoo is built around organizing: it watches the folders your Mac capture tools save to and sorts screenshots into on-device AI categories, with color tags, saved searches and custom categories in Pro.

Is CloudShots free?

Partly. The free tier includes capture, import, iCloud sync, search and editing, but only your newest 30 screenshots open; older ones keep syncing and stay locked until you buy Pro ($0.99 a week, $9.99 a year, or $24.99 Lifetime). Pizazoo’s free tier covers automatic import, on-device text search, AI categorization and the markup editor; Pro (from $15 one-time) adds color tags, saved searches, unlimited custom categories and iCloud Sync.

Which one syncs screenshots between iPhone and Mac?

Both can. CloudShots syncs on its free tier as well as on Pro. In Pizazoo, iCloud Sync is a Pro feature that syncs screenshots, tags, custom categories and saved searches across Mac, iPhone and iPad. Both sync through your private iCloud; neither has an account system or its own server for your screenshots.

Does CloudShots send my screenshots to a server?

According to its privacy policy, no. Screenshots and recognition results sync only through your private iCloud (CloudKit), and OCR, tagging and AI naming run on the device. CloudShots does send anonymized diagnostics (crashes, performance, feature usage) to Sentry and PostHog, on by default in App Store builds and switchable off in Settings, and says these never include screenshot content. Pizazoo also runs OCR and categorization on-device, with no account, no Pizazoo server and no ads.

Does CloudShots work with CleanShot X or Shottr?

Partly. CloudShots can import from one Mac folder you pick (the Desktop is pre-selected), so it can pick up another app’s captures if they are saved there, but its own capture is the main path on the Mac. Its site does not say whether it keeps watching that folder for new files. Pizazoo is designed for this setup: it watches the folders of the macOS screenshot tool and apps like CleanShot X, Shottr and Xnapper.

How long has CloudShots been available?

CloudShots first appeared on the App Store on September 10, 2026, and was at version 0.8.3 when we checked on October 6, 2026, with a public TestFlight beta running alongside. That is not a reason to avoid it, but expect features and prices to change faster than in an older app, and check its site for the current details.
