Yes, but only through Rosetta 2. Skitch for Mac is an Intel-only app: its last version, 2.9, came out on July 7, 2020, four months before the first M1 Macs, and there is no native Apple Silicon version. On an Apple Silicon Mac, macOS translates it with Rosetta 2 and asks you to install Rosetta first if it is missing. To confirm on your Mac, select Skitch in the Finder, choose File > Get Info and look for "Kind: Application (Intel)". On macOS 27 Golden Gate you can also open System Settings > General > About and click Details next to Intel-based Apps.
On Apple Silicon Macs, that is Apple’s stated plan unless Evernote ships a native update. Apple’s support article says Rosetta "is available for any Mac with Apple silicon using macOS 27 or earlier" and that starting with macOS 28 it will be available "only for certain older, unmaintained games that rely on Intel-based frameworks." Apple’s September 2026 developer notice calls macOS 27 the "final release to support Rosetta," and since macOS 26.4 your Mac may show a notice when you open an app that relies on Rosetta. Intel Macs are different: Skitch runs natively there, but Apple’s macOS 27 compatibility list includes only Apple Silicon Macs, so Intel Macs stay on macOS 26 Tahoe or earlier.
It is unmaintained rather than formally discontinued. In December 2015 Evernote ended Skitch for Windows, Windows Touch, iOS and Android (effective January 22, 2016) and said it would keep offering Skitch for Mac. The Mac app is still a free download on the Mac App Store, but it has not been updated since version 2.9 on July 7, 2020, and skitch.com now redirects to the Evernote home page, which does not mention Skitch. We found no Evernote announcement of an end date for the Mac app. A February 2026 user comment on MacUpdate reports it crashing at launch on macOS Tahoe.
