Is this OCR really private?
Yes. The Tesseract engine runs as WebAssembly inside your browser tab. Your image is never uploaded. Only the engine itself is downloaded, once, from a CDN.
How do I convert a screenshot to text on iPhone?
iPhone has this built in: with Live Text (iOS 15 and later), open the screenshot in Photos, touch and hold a word, adjust the selection, and tap Copy. To use this tool instead, open the page in Safari, tap the drop zone, choose the screenshot from your Photo Library, tap Extract text, then Copy text.
How do I copy text from a screenshot on a Mac?
On macOS Monterey or later, Live Text lets you open the screenshot in Preview, drag across the text to select it, and press Command-C. Or drop the screenshot on this page and click Extract text, which also lets you edit the result and save it as a .txt file. Which languages are supported?

How accurate is it?
Very good on crisp screenshots with standard fonts; lower on photos, handwriting, or stylized text. Picking the right language and using high-resolution images helps the most.
Can it read screenshots of code, tables, or app screens?
Yes, as long as the text is clear. Layouts with columns are split into blocks automatically, and smaller screenshots are enlarged before reading so tiny interface text is easier to recognize. Spacing and indentation may not come through exactly, so check the result in the editable text box before you copy it.
