Best Screenshot Organizer Apps for iPhone and iPad (2026)

Twelve screenshot organizer apps for iPhone and iPad, plus Apple Photos on iOS 27, compared on price, iOS version, privacy, text search and sync.

20 min read

The best screenshot organizer for iPhone depends on what your screenshots are for and which iOS version you run. If you want an existing pile of screenshots sorted and searchable by their text, with the analysis done on the device, look at CaptainShot, CloudShots or Pizazoo; if they are mostly recipes, places and products you mean to act on, Tote, Captr or Sorti fit better; if you save links as often as screenshots, try Tuck or Stash Anything. If you only take a few a week, Apple Photos on iOS 27 may be enough. Below are twelve apps compared on price, minimum iOS, iPad and Mac support, privacy, text search and sync, as of October 6, 2026.

How we compared these apps

On October 6, 2026, we checked each app's US App Store listing (price, in-app purchases, ratings, compatibility, last update and privacy label) through the App Store and Apple's iTunes Lookup API, and read each developer's website and privacy policy. For Apple Photos we used Apple's iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 User Guides. This compares published features, prices and policies; it is not a hands-on review of each app. Listings change, and privacy labels are self-reported by developers (Apple notes it has not verified them), so check before you pay. Where a developer does not publish a fact, we say "not stated".

The apps are listed in order of their number of US App Store ratings, most first. That reflects popularity, not quality; apps with no ratings yet follow in order of release date.

Disclosure: we make Pizazoo. We kept its entry to what ships today, listed it by the same rule as every other app, and noted where other apps are ahead.

What is the best screenshot organizer app for iPhone?

There is no single winner. Here is who each option suits best:

  • Best built-in option for light use: Apple Photos, which gained keywords, star ratings and a camera-roll view without screenshots in iOS 27.
  • Best long-running dedicated manager: Screenshot PRO, on the App Store since 2019, with Face ID protection and optional camera-roll cleanup.
  • Best for social saves with AI-extracted details: Tote, on iOS 26.
  • Best free option for turning screenshots into tasks and purchases: Captr.
  • Best private save-anything app for older devices: Stash Anything, from iOS 17 and macOS 14.
  • Best for quick manual cleanup on a budget: Clutter, with a $2.99 one-time upgrade.
  • Best for simple text search with manual galleries: Screenshot Manager.
  • Best free all-in-one saver, including Android: Sorti.
  • Best for plain-language questions: SnapStash.
  • Best feature depth with on-device analysis: CaptainShot, if your devices run iOS 26 or macOS 26.
  • Best for screenshots and links filed by your own rules: Tuck, on iOS 26 and macOS 26.
  • Best for auto-sorting an existing Screenshots album on the device, from iOS 17: Pizazoo, with a one-time Pro and a Mac app.
  • Best for one iCloud timeline that includes Apple Watch: CloudShots.

Check your iOS version first. Tote, Tuck and CaptainShot require iOS 26 or later, and CloudShots requires iOS 18. On iOS 17 you can use Pizazoo, Stash Anything, Sorti, Clutter, SnapStash and Screenshot Manager, plus Screenshot PRO and Captr from iOS 17.6.

Screenshot organizer or save-anything app?

The apps fall into two groups, and picking the right group matters more than any single feature.

  • Screenshot organizers read your photo library. CaptainShot, CloudShots, Pizazoo, Screenshot Manager and Screenshot PRO import or analyze the screenshots already in Photos, and Captr says it reads each new screenshot as it is taken. Clutter has you go through your screenshots one by one. These suit a backlog you never want to sort by hand.
  • Save-anything apps work on what you send them. Tote, Sorti, SnapStash, Tuck and Stash Anything organize the screenshots, links, posts and notes you share or import into them; their listings do not describe automatically importing your whole Screenshots album. They suit people who save as they go and want links in the same place.

Every app here except Clutter advertises searching what is written in your screenshots (Tote searches the details its AI pulls out); Clutter lets you copy text from a screenshot instead. Screenshot PRO's text search covers Latin-alphabet languages only, per its listing. Prices and ratings are from the US App Store on October 6, 2026. "Not stated" means we could not find it in the listing, website or privacy policy.

Which screenshot organizer app is free?

Three options cost nothing at all: Apple Photos, Sorti (no paid tier, per its developer) and Captr (no in-app purchases listed). Most of the others are free to download with limits:

  • Free core, optional one-time upgrade: Clutter (free with ads; $2.99 lifetime), Pizazoo (automatic categories and text search are free; Pro is $14.99 once for one device) and Stash Anything (free up to 100 items and 10 categories; $9.99 lifetime, which its website calls a limited-time price).
  • Free tier with a cap: Tuck (40 items in 3 collections), SnapStash (search covers the last 30 days) and CloudShots (opens your newest 30 screenshots).
  • Trial first: CaptainShot gives full access for 7 days, after which "some advanced features" need Pro; it does not list which. Tote Pro is $29.99 a year after a 3-day trial, and Tote does not state what the free version includes.
  • Free with paid options: Screenshot PRO and Screenshot Manager list Premium purchases, but their listings do not say which features need them.

If you would rather pay once, the lifetime prices listed are Clutter $2.99, CaptainShot $6.99, Stash Anything $9.99, Tuck $12.49 (a $17.99 lifetime is also listed), Pizazoo $14.99 for one device and CloudShots $24.99.

Can the Photos app organize screenshots on its own?

Partly. On iOS 27, Apple Photos gives you these screenshot tools:

  • A Screenshots view. Open Photos, tap Collections, scroll to Media Types, then tap Screenshots. The library's Media Types filter can also show only screenshots.
  • A way to hide them. View Options can hide screenshots from the library, and iOS 27 adds Captured by Me, a collection and filter showing only Camera app photos, with no screenshots.
  • Text search. Photos search accepts text found in images, such as an email address or phone number. With Apple Intelligence (iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or iPhone 16 and later), you can also describe what you are looking for in natural language.
  • Utilities collections. Photos groups items by content, such as receipts, handwriting, illustrations, QR codes and identity documents.
  • Keywords and star ratings, new in iOS 27. You can add keywords from a photo's Info panel, search by them, and favorite a keyword so it appears as a library filter. You can also rate items from 1 to 5 stars and filter by rating.
  • Visual Intelligence on new screenshots. On Apple Intelligence iPhones, taking a screenshot offers tools to search for similar items, ask a question, add an event to Calendar or summarize text.

What Photos does not do is sort screenshots by topic (code, chats, travel, bookings), and keywords are something you add yourself. If you have a few hundred screenshots, start with Photos. If you have thousands, an organizer starts to pay off; see how to organize screenshots on iPhone.

The apps, one by one

In order of US App Store ratings on October 6, 2026; apps with none yet follow by release date.

Screenshot PRO

Screenshot PRO imports all your screenshots each time it opens and makes the words in them searchable. You add tags, notes and favorites, export the recognized text, protect private screenshots with a code, Face ID or Touch ID, and can have it delete screenshots from the camera roll after import.

  • Price: free. Premium is listed at $1.99 to $2.99 a month, $2.99 to $17.99 a year, or $2.99 to $34.99 once (nine prices), and the listing does not say which features need it.
  • Works on: iPhone and iPad with iOS 17.6 or later; the iPad app also runs on Apple silicon Macs and Apple Vision Pro.
  • Ratings: 899, 4.1 average, the most here. On the App Store since October 2019; updated September 29, 2026 (version 4.0.5).
  • Privacy: the listing says imported screenshots are saved only on your iPhone or iPad, "not on Cloud or other servers", and mentions no account. The privacy label lists usage and advertising data (not linked to you) that may be used for third-party advertising, and the privacy policy dates from October 2020.
  • Best for: a long-running, dedicated screenshot manager with passcode protection and automatic camera-roll cleanup.
  • Limitation: text search covers Latin-alphabet languages only (the listing names Chinese, Arabic and Russian as unsupported), and sorting is by tags you add yourself.

Tote

Tote is a save-anything app for screenshots, links, Reels and TikToks. You share an item, upload a screenshot or press the Action Button, and its AI recognizes more than 20 content types (recipes, restaurants, products, events, places) and pulls out details such as ingredients, opening hours or event dates. You can search by any detail, build lists, chat with AI about your saves, create reminders and share a save as a web link.

  • Price: free to download; Tote Pro is $29.99 a year after a 3-day free trial. Tote does not state what the free version includes.
  • Works on: iPhone and iPad with iOS 26 or later; the iPad app can run on Apple silicon Macs ("Not verified for macOS"), and the library opens on the web. No Android app.
  • Ratings: 157, 4.7 average. Released February 2026; updated October 5, 2026 (version 0.7.7).
  • Privacy: cloud-based. The privacy policy describes signing in with Apple or Google and says vendors "such as cloud hosting, analytics, and AI providers" process data on Tote's behalf. The privacy label lists identifiers as data that may be used to track you.
  • Best for: recipes, places, products and events saved from social apps, when you want the details pulled out and turned into reminders.
  • Limitation: it needs iOS 26, Pro is a subscription, analysis happens in the cloud with an account, and it works on what you send it rather than your whole Screenshots album.

Captr

Captr reads each screenshot with AI as it is taken, files it into lists and turns it into an action: add to calendar, set a reminder, buy the product, get directions, or jump back to the original post. A daily list brings new saves to you, and it flags duplicate and near-duplicate screenshots.

  • Price: free; the US listing showed no in-app purchases on October 6, 2026.
  • Works on: iPhone with iOS 17.6 or later, plus Apple silicon Macs and Apple Vision Pro. No iPad version is listed.
  • Ratings: 87, 4.8 average. Updated October 5, 2026 (version 3.0.22).
  • Privacy: cloud-based. Captr's privacy policy says OCR, link extraction and search are powered by third-party AI model providers, contractually barred from keeping your data or training on it. Accounts use your email, and the privacy label lists contact info as data that may be used to track you.
  • Best for: turning shopping, travel and restaurant screenshots into follow-ups at no cost.
  • Limitation: cloud analysis with an account, and no iPad version.

Stash Anything

Stash Anything saves links, photos, screenshots, videos, PDFs and notes from the share sheet into colorful "stashes" and sub-stashes, suggesting where each item belongs. Search covers the text inside screenshots, images and PDFs, and version 25 added on-device search by what a picture shows ("dog", "sofa"). It is not the same app as Stash: AI Screenshot Organizer, from another developer.

  • Price: free up to 100 items and 10 categories, including family shared stashes. Stash Pro is $7.99 a year or $9.99 once (a price its website calls limited-time) for unlimited stashes and categories, cross-device sync, and hidden and locked stashes.
  • Works on: iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later, Mac with macOS 14 or later, and Apple Vision Pro.
  • Ratings: 80, 4.6 average. Released February 2026; updated September 29, 2026 (version 25).
  • Privacy: no account. The privacy policy says text is read with Apple's Vision framework on the device and no image data is sent to any server; items sync through your iCloud only if sync is on. The privacy label reads "Data Not Collected".
  • Best for: one private place for links and screenshots on older iPhones and Macs, without a subscription.
  • Limitation: it organizes what you save into it, not your existing Screenshots album, and picking a stash is up to you.

Clutter

Clutter is a review-and-sort tool: go through screenshots one by one and delete them, save them for later or move them into folders, then add tags and notes.

  • Price: free with ads (the listing says "Contains: Advertising"); Clutter Pro Lifetime is $2.99.
  • Works on: iPhone with iOS 15.1 or later. No iPad version.
  • Ratings: 43, 5.0 average (4.95 exactly), the highest average here. Released August 2026; updated October 2, 2026 (version 1.4.0).
  • Privacy: the listing says photos are processed on the device and not uploaded to external servers. The privacy label lists purchases, identifiers and usage data as possibly used to track you.
  • Best for: clearing a backlog a few minutes at a time, with the cheapest upgrade here.
  • Limitation: sorting is manual, text search is not advertised (you can copy text from a screenshot), and the free version shows ads.

Screenshot Manager

Screenshot Manager - Organizer imports screenshots automatically, searches them by the text they contain, and lets you create your own galleries by subject.

  • Price: free, with in-app purchases listed at $2.99 (Premium) and $1.99 (Monthly).
  • Works on: iPhone and iPad with iOS 15.6 or later, plus Apple silicon Macs and Apple Vision Pro.
  • Ratings: 38, 3.8 average. On the App Store since January 2021; updated October 5, 2026 (version 1.0.345).
  • Privacy: the listing does not say where text recognition runs. The privacy label lists only usage data and diagnostics as collected.
  • Best for: simple automatic import and text search on older iPhones, with a native iPad app and a low price.
  • Limitation: the lowest average rating here, and galleries are manual.

Sorti

Sorti is a "save anything" app for screenshots, links, Instagram and TikTok posts, products, recipes and places. Its AI sorts saves into categories and subcategories, with Siri and Spotlight search, price comparison, a map of saved places, reminders and shareable categories. "Save It to Sorti" adds your latest screenshot in one tap.

  • Price: free. Sorti's website says there is no subscription, no premium tier and no ads.
  • Works on: iPhone and iPad with iOS 15 or later, Apple silicon Macs, and Android.
  • Ratings: 34, 4.7 average. Updated September 27, 2026 (version 1.1.37).
  • Privacy: not stated. The privacy label lists photos as collected (not linked to your identity), and we found no statement that analysis runs on the device.
  • Best for: a completely free saver that also handles links and posts, including on Android.
  • Limitation: it works on what you save into it rather than your whole Screenshots album.

SnapStash

SnapStash AI turns screenshots and links into a searchable archive. It reads text with OCR, writes short summaries, adds tags and categories, and lets you search by memory, such as "receipt from last month".

  • Price: free with unlimited saves, but search covers only the last 30 days. Pro is $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year; Pro+ is $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year.
  • Works on: iPhone and iPad with iOS 16 or later, and Android.
  • Ratings: 1 on the US store (2.0). Last updated July 28, 2026 (version 2.0.9).
  • Privacy: screenshots are stored on your device by default, with cloud backup and sync optional on Pro+. The privacy label reads "Data Not Collected".
  • Best for: the most conversational search here, with Android support.
  • Limitation: the most expensive subscriptions here, full-history search requires paying, and very few ratings so far.

CaptainShot

CaptainShot analyzes new screenshots in the background and groups them into automatic collections by topic. You can add manual collections and rule-based Custom Selections, search in your own words through OCR and visual content, and use SmartData, which detects dates, amounts, links, addresses, flights, deliveries and QR codes for quick actions and reminder suggestions. It also has a fast review mode, an editor with blur and Apple Pencil support, widgets and collection sharing by code, plus local summaries and translations on Apple Intelligence devices.

  • Price: a 7-day trial of every feature; after that, "some advanced features" need Pro at $0.99 a month, $4.99 a year or $6.99 for a lifetime unlock, covering iPhone, iPad and Mac. CaptainShot does not list which features stay free.
  • Works on: iPhone, iPad and Mac with iOS, iPadOS or macOS 26 or later (Mac with an M1 chip or later), plus Apple Vision Pro, in nine languages.
  • Ratings: none on the US store yet. First released October 2025; updated September 17, 2026 (version 3.6.1).
  • Privacy: no account and no ads. CaptainShot says analysis and search run on the device and it does not store images in its own cloud (it works with the images in your photo library); optional iCloud backup keeps only organization data in your private iCloud. The privacy label reads "Data Not Collected".
  • Best for: the most automation and quick actions with on-device analysis, at a low lifetime price, if all your devices run version 26.
  • Limitation: it requires iOS 26 and macOS 26, has no US ratings yet, and the free tier after the trial is not spelled out.

Tuck

Tuck is a private home for screenshots, links, notes and files. On-device text recognition makes the words in screenshots searchable alongside links, notes and PDFs. You share items in or import screenshots from Photos, and smart collections file new saves by keyword rules you write (anything containing "invoice", for example). It adds widgets, Spotlight results, Shortcuts actions, Face ID-locked collections with Pro and read-only share links.

  • Price: free for up to 40 items in 3 collections. Tuck Pro is $2.99 a month, $7.99 a year, or a lifetime purchase (listed at $12.49 and $17.99).
  • Works on: iPhone, iPad and a native Mac app, all requiring version 26 or later, plus Apple Vision Pro. English and Ukrainian.
  • Ratings: none on the US store yet. Released July 2026; updated October 2, 2026 (version 1.2.1).
  • Privacy: no sign-up. Tuck's privacy policy says text recognition and rule matching run on the device, the library syncs through your private iCloud, Tuck runs no servers of its own, and the app has no third-party analytics.
  • Best for: people who save links as often as screenshots and want them filed by transparent rules on iPhone and Mac.
  • Limitation: it requires iOS 26 and macOS 26, the free tier stops at 40 items, and there are no automatic categories beyond your rules.

Pizazoo (our app)

Pizazoo organizes the screenshots already in your photo library. Each time you open it, it scans Photos for new screenshots (skipping exact copies), files each into a built-in category such as Receipts, Chats, Code or Travel, and reads the text inside so you can search it, including from iOS Spotlight; saying "Search Pizazoo" to Siri opens the app on your search. A screenshot's Related section lists visually similar ones with a match percentage, computed on the device, so near-duplicates surface one at a time (it is not a whole-library duplicate scanner). "Remove from Photos after import" moves originals to Recently Deleted after a confirmation. It also has a share-sheet extension, a markup editor with blur, widgets, a 30-day Trash, and (with Pro) shared sets you can send to other Pizazoo users through iCloud.

  • Price: free, with no ads and no account. Pro is one-time ($14.99 for 1 device, $24.99 for 3, $34.99 for 5) and adds color tags, saved searches, custom categories, shared sets and iCloud Sync through your private iCloud; a Pizazoo for Mac purchase includes it. See pricing.
  • Works on: iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later (version 1.0.4), plus a separate Mac app for macOS 14 or later.
  • Ratings: none yet (released August 2026).
  • Privacy: text recognition and categorization run on the device (on eligible devices with iOS 26 or later, Apple Intelligence also reviews each category). No account, no Pizazoo server, and iCloud Sync is off by default.
  • Best for: a large existing Screenshots album sorted and searchable automatically on the device, including on iOS 17, especially if you also use a Mac.
  • Limitation: no ratings yet and no Android version. It does not save links or turn screenshots into reminders, tags and custom categories need Pro, Pro costs more up front than the Clutter, CaptainShot or Stash Anything lifetime options, and new screenshots are picked up only when you open the app. More on the iPhone app page.

CloudShots

CloudShots imports your Screenshots album in the background into one searchable timeline synced through your own iCloud across iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch. Apple's Vision framework reads text, scenes and objects on the device and groups similar screenshots. Editing covers annotation, face blurring and redaction.

  • Price: free opens your newest 30 screenshots; older ones stay synced but locked. Pro is $0.99 a week, $9.99 a year, or $24.99 once, covers iPhone, iPad and Mac, and can clear already-synced originals out of Photos into Recently Deleted.
  • Works on: iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or later, a Mac app, Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro.
  • Ratings: none yet. Released September 10, 2026; updated September 30, 2026 (version 0.8.3).
  • Privacy: on-device recognition with no account and no server of its own; the library syncs through your iCloud.
  • Best for: one screenshot timeline across the widest range of Apple devices here.
  • Limitation: the free tier opens only 30 screenshots, it needs iOS 18, it is very new, and it organizes by timeline, tags and similarity rather than named categories.

Which screenshot apps keep everything on the iPhone?

Screenshots hold bank details, private chats and access codes, so where analysis happens matters. Based on listings, websites and privacy policies:

  • On-device analysis and no account, per the developer: CaptainShot (images stay in your photo library; only organization data goes to your iCloud), CloudShots, Pizazoo (iCloud Sync is optional with Pro), and Stash Anything and Tuck (libraries sync through your own iCloud).
  • Kept on the device, per the listing: Clutter (processed on the device), Screenshot PRO (imported content saved only on your iPhone or iPad) and SnapStash (stored on the device by default; Pro+ adds cloud backup). None of the three says whether an account is needed.
  • Cloud analysis with an account: Tote (Apple or Google sign-in; cloud hosting and AI providers process data) and Captr (third-party AI model providers; email account).
  • Not stated: Sorti, whose privacy label lists photos as collected data, and Screenshot Manager.

Privacy labels add one more signal: CaptainShot, Stash Anything and SnapStash report "Data Not Collected", while Tote, Captr and Clutter list some data as possibly used to track you. "On device" describes analysis, not storage: if you turn on sync, copies travel through that service. Read the App Privacy section and the privacy policy before installing. For how on-device text search works, see how to search text inside screenshots on iPhone.

Which apps can clear screenshots out of Photos?

Apps that import screenshots keep a copy in their own library, so unless the originals are deleted, they stay in Photos and keep using storage. A few apps can remove them for you:

  • Screenshot PRO: optionally deletes screenshots from the camera roll automatically after import.
  • Captr: says it frees up storage on your phone once screenshots are synced to Captr.
  • Stash Anything: pitches saving through the share sheet instead of taking a screenshot at all.
  • Clutter: a review mode where you go through screenshots one by one and delete the ones you don't need.
  • Pizazoo: turn on "Remove from Photos after import" in Settings. A confirmation sheet asks first, and removed originals go to Recently Deleted, where they stay for 30 days.
  • CloudShots: Pro clears already-synced originals out of Photos into Recently Deleted.

Without an app, you can hide screenshots in Photos or delete them in bulk; see remove screenshots from iPhone Photos without deleting them and delete all screenshots on iPhone at once.

Is there a screenshot organizer for iPad?

Yes. Ten of the twelve apps list a native iPad version: Screenshot PRO, Tote, Stash Anything, Screenshot Manager, Sorti, SnapStash, CaptainShot, Tuck, Pizazoo and CloudShots. Tote, CaptainShot and Tuck need iPadOS 26. Captr and Clutter list iPhone only; iPhone-only apps can often still be installed on an iPad, but in a phone-shaped layout.

How to organize screenshots on iPad

  • Capture with Apple Pencil. Swipe up from either bottom corner with Apple Pencil to take a screenshot and mark it up right away. The usual top button plus volume button also works.
  • Start in Photos. On iPadOS 27, Collections, then Media Types, then Screenshots shows every capture. Keywords work the same way as on iPhone, so you can add a project keyword to screenshots and search by it later.
  • Use the bigger screen. On iPad, Pizazoo uses a sidebar layout, lets you drag screenshots into other apps and drop images in, and supports Apple Pencil markup with a double-tap to switch tools. With Pro, iCloud Sync keeps the same library on iPhone, iPad and Mac. See Pizazoo for iPad.
