How to Combine Screenshots Into One PDF (Mac and iPhone)
Combine screenshots into one PDF on Mac with Finder or Preview, on iPhone with Preview, Files or Shortcuts, or in a browser with a free local converter.
To combine screenshots into one PDF on a Mac, select them in Finder in the order you want the pages, Control-click the selection, then choose Quick Actions > Create PDF. On iPhone, the Preview app (iOS 26 and later) and the Shortcuts action Make PDF can both merge screenshots into a single PDF. On any computer or phone, our free Image Converter does it in the browser without uploading anything.
Here are the steps for each, the OS versions they apply to, and how to keep pages in order.
How do I combine screenshots into one PDF on a Mac?
The fastest built-in route is a Finder Quick Action. Apple documents it in the Mac User Guide for macOS 26 Tahoe and macOS 27 (Apple):
- Open a Finder window and go to your screenshots (on the desktop unless you changed the save location).
- Select the screenshots in the order you want the pages. Apple notes that files appear in the PDF in the same order you select them, so Command-click them one at a time instead of dragging a box around them.
- Control-click the selection, then choose Quick Actions > Create PDF.
Finder creates the PDF automatically, with a name similar to the first file you selected. You can also click Create PDF at the bottom of the Finder Preview pane; choose View > Show Preview if the pane is hidden (Apple).
How do I turn screenshots into a PDF with Preview on Mac?
Use Preview for paper-sized pages, or to add screenshots to a PDF you already have (steps from the Preview User Guide for macOS 27).
To print several screenshots to one PDF:
- Select the screenshots in Finder and open them in Preview. If each opens in its own window, choose Preview > Settings, click Images, and select Open groups of files in the same window (Apple).
- To include only some of them, choose View > Thumbnails and Command-click the ones you want.
- Choose File > Print. If you picked only some thumbnails, select Selection in the Preview section. Scale to Fit with Print Entire Image keeps each screenshot whole on the page (Apple).
- Click the PDF pop-up menu, choose Save as PDF, then name the file (Apple).
To add screenshots to an existing PDF, open it, choose View > Thumbnails, then drag screenshot files from Finder into the sidebar, or choose Edit > Insert > Page from File. Drag thumbnails to reorder pages (Apple). Preview saves changes automatically, so choose File > Duplicate first if you want to keep the original (Apple).
For a single screenshot, open it in Preview, choose File > Export, and pick PDF from the Format menu (Apple).
How do I convert a screenshot to PDF on iPhone?
It depends on what you captured:
- A long webpage: take a screenshot, tap Full Page, then save it as a PDF. Apple's iOS 26 guide lists Save PDF to Files under the save button (Apple, iOS 26), and the iOS 27 guide keeps the Full Page option (Apple).
- Any screenshot saved in Files: open it in the Preview app (new on iPhone in iOS 26), tap the Actions Menu button next to the file name, tap Export, and choose PDF (Apple). In iOS 27, PDF export adds an Embed Text switch that runs OCR so the text in the PDF becomes searchable. The iOS 26 version of the same page lists only a file size slider (Apple, iOS 26).
Preview browses the same locations as Files (Apple), so save screenshots from Photos to Files first.
How do I combine multiple screenshots into one PDF on iPhone?
Three built-in routes, from most control to least:
- Preview (iOS 26 and later): export the first screenshot as a PDF as described above, then open that PDF, tap the page count to show thumbnails, touch and hold a thumbnail, and tap Insert from File to add each remaining screenshot. Touch and hold a thumbnail, then drag it to reorder pages (Apple).
- Files app: with the screenshots saved in one folder, tap the More button, tap Select, choose the images, tap More again, then tap Create PDF. Apple's iPhone guide does not document this command, so these steps come from MakeUseOf.
- Print from Photos: select the screenshots, tap Share, then Print (Apple). In Print Options, tap the Share button and choose Save to Files. This route is also undocumented by Apple (steps from the same MakeUseOf guide), and the pages use a paper size rather than each screenshot's own shape.
Can Shortcuts combine screenshots into a PDF automatically?
Yes. The Make PDF action turns its input into a PDF and can add a quarter-inch margin for printing (Matthew Cassinelli). Build it once in the Shortcuts app (Apple):
- To pick screenshots each time: add Select Photos with Select Multiple turned on, then Make PDF, then Save File.
- For your newest captures: start with Get Latest Screenshots and set how many, then add Make PDF and Save File.
- From the share sheet: start with Make PDF and Save File, then open the shortcut's details and turn on Show in Share Sheet (Apple). Select screenshots in Photos, tap Share, and run it.
Save File asks where to save unless you turn off Ask Where to Save and set a folder (Matthew Cassinelli).
How do I combine screenshots into a PDF in a browser?
Our free Image Converter works in any modern browser on a Mac, iPhone, Windows PC or Chromebook. Disclosure: we make Pizazoo and this free tool.
- Drop, paste or choose your screenshots. Add them in page order: pages follow the order of the list, and Add more images appends to the end.
- Set Convert to to PDF (one per image, or combined).
- With two or more images, click Combine into one PDF. The file downloads as screenshots.pdf. To get a separate PDF for each screenshot instead, click the Convert button, then Download all.
The PDF is generated locally in your browser, and nothing is uploaded. Each page takes the shape of its screenshot, so a tall full-page capture stays one tall page with no Letter or A4 margins. Pages are stored as JPEG images, so Quality and the optional Limit longest side setting control file size. The list cannot be reordered, so if the order is wrong, click Clear list and add the files again.
Screenshots are images, so unless a tool adds a text layer, the pages of your PDF are pictures of text. Our converter does not add one. If you need a searchable PDF, the iOS 27 Preview Embed Text option is the built-in way to get it.
Which method should you use?
| Method | Where | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Finder: Quick Actions > Create PDF | Mac | Fastest merge; page order follows your selection |
| Preview: Print > Save as PDF | Mac | Paper-sized pages for printing |
| Preview: Insert from File | iPhone, iOS 26 and later | Adding screenshots to an existing PDF; searchable export in iOS 27 |
| Files: Create PDF | iPhone | Quick merge of screenshots already in Files |
| Shortcuts: Make PDF | iPhone | A repeatable one-tap workflow |
| Pizazoo Image Converter | Any browser | Windows, Chromebooks, or no setup at all |
How do I find the screenshots to combine first?
The slow part is often finding them, such as every receipt from a trip. Pizazoo for Mac and iPhone sorts screenshots into categories such as Receipts, Payments and Travel, and searches the text inside them on your device. Disclosure: we make Pizazoo. It does not create PDFs itself, so use one of the methods above once you have found them.
