App Store Screenshot Sizes 2026: iPhone, iPad, Mac
Every App Store screenshot size Apple accepts in 2026: iPhone (with iPhone Duo), iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Vision Pro and Watch, plus preview and format rules.
App Store screenshots must be JPEG or PNG files at one of Apple's accepted pixel sizes, from 1 to 10 per device size, with no alpha channel or transparency. For iPhone, Apple's page now names the required size as iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display): 1206 x 2622 or 1179 x 2556 pixels in portrait. The large class takes 1320 x 2868, 1290 x 2796 or 1260 x 2736. If your app runs on iPad, you also need at least one 13-inch screenshot: 2064 x 2752 or 2048 x 2732.
Every number below is copied from Apple's Screenshot specifications page in App Store Connect Help, checked on October 6, 2026. Apple updates that page when new devices ship, so check it before a big export.
What changed in Apple's screenshot specs?
Three things that most size charts still miss:
- The inch labels are gone. Until at least November 2025, Apple's page grouped iPhones as 6.9", 6.5", 6.3", 6.1" and so on (Wayback Machine, Nov 2025). The page now uses display classes such as "iPhone with Dynamic Island (large display)". The pixel sizes did not change, so the table below maps old names to new ones.
- iPhone Duo has its own sizes. Apple's first foldable iPhone (Apple) gets separate sizes for its outer and inner displays.
- The required iPhone size moved. The new "Required device sizes" summary asks for iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display), the class that used to be 6.3". The older rule, that 6.5" shots are required unless you provide 6.9" ones, still appears on the Face ID (large display) row.
Because the page states both rules, the safe set for a new iPhone app is one set at 1320 x 2868 and one at 1206 x 2622. That satisfies either reading.

Are iPad screenshots required for the App Store?
Only if your app runs on iPad. Then Apple requires at least one screenshot for the 13-inch display, and scales it down for the smaller iPad classes you leave empty.
| iPad class | Accepted sizes (portrait) | Devices Apple lists | If you don't provide it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 13" display (required for iPad apps) | 2064 x 2752, 2048 x 2732 | iPad Pro (M5, M4), iPad Pro (6th, 5th, 4th, 3rd and 1st generation), iPad Air (M4, M3, M2) | Required |
| 12.9" display | 2048 x 2732 | iPad Pro (2nd generation) | Scaled from 13" |

| 10.5" display | 1668 x 2224 | iPad Pro, iPad Air (3rd generation), iPad (9th, 8th and 7th generation) | Scaled from 12.9" |
| 9.7" display | 1536 x 2048 (1536 x 2008 without status bar), 768 x 1024 (768 x 1004 without status bar) | iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad, iPad 2, iPad (6th, 5th, 4th and 3rd generation), iPad mini (5th generation), iPad mini 4, 3 and 2 | Scaled from 10.5" |
Landscape is the pair swapped, for example 2752 x 2064. For the 9.7" class without the status bar, landscape is 2048 x 1496 or 1024 x 748.
What size are Mac, Apple TV, Vision Pro and Apple Watch screenshots?
| Platform | Accepted sizes | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Mac | One of 1280 x 800, 1440 x 900, 2560 x 1600 or 2880 x 1800 (16:10) | Required for Mac apps |
| Apple TV | 1920 x 1080 or 3840 x 2160 | Required for Apple TV apps |
| Apple Vision Pro | 3840 x 2160 | Required for Apple Vision Pro |
| Apple Watch Ultra 4, Ultra 3 | 422 x 514 | Required for Apple Watch apps (one of these sizes) |
| Apple Watch Ultra 2, Ultra | 410 x 502 | |
| Apple Watch Series 12, 11, 10 | 416 x 496 | |
| Apple Watch Series 9, 8, 7 | 396 x 484 | |
| Apple Watch Series 6, 5, 4, SE 3, SE 2, SE | 368 x 448 | |
| Apple Watch Series 3, 2, 1 | 312 x 390 |
For Apple Watch, Apple adds that you must use the same screenshot size consistently across all localizations of the app.
Do I need screenshots for every device size?
No. Apple's rule is that if your interface is the same across device sizes and localizations, you only need screenshots for the highest required resolution, and App Store Connect scales them down for smaller sizes. You can still upload specific screenshots for any size or language if scaling makes your UI look wrong.
Other rules from the same page:
- Count: at least 1 and up to 10 screenshots per device size. Apple's best-practices page adds that up to three screenshots can appear in search results, depending on orientation (Apple).
- Format: .jpeg, .jpg or .png.
- No transparency: "Images can't include alpha channels or transparencies."
- Content: screenshots must follow the App Review Guidelines. Guideline 2.3.3 says they should show the app in use, "and not merely the title art, login page, or splash screen," though text and image overlays are allowed (Apple). Apple's asset guidance also asks you to leave out prices, discounts, website URLs, copyright symbols and Apple recognitions such as Editor's Choice (Apple).
What are the App Store app preview video specs?
App previews are optional videos with their own page (Apple). The essentials:
| Spec | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Number | Up to 3 per device size and language (iOS, macOS, tvOS and visionOS apps) |
| Length | 15 to 30 seconds |
| File | .mov, .m4v or .mp4 (H.264), or .mov (ProRes 422 HQ only); 500 MB maximum |
| Frame rate | Up to 30 frames per second |
| H.264 video | 10 to 12 Mbps target, progressive, up to High Profile Level 4.0 |
| Audio | Stereo; 256 kbps AAC (PCM also accepted for ProRes), 44.1 or 48 kHz |
| Orientation | iOS: portrait or landscape. macOS, tvOS and visionOS: landscape only |
| Poster frame | Defaults to 5 seconds in; can't be edited after the asset is approved |
| Processing | Up to 24 hours after upload |
Preview resolutions are not the device resolutions. Apple accepts a fixed set per class:
| Device class | Accepted preview resolution (portrait / landscape) |
|---|---|
| All iPhone classes with Face ID or Dynamic Island, and iPhone Duo | 886 x 1920 / 1920 x 886 |
| iPhone Home Button (large display) and (4" display) | 1080 x 1920 / 1920 x 1080 |
| iPhone Home Button (medium display) | 750 x 1334 / 1334 x 750 |
| iPad 13", 11" and 10.5" | 1200 x 1600 / 1600 x 1200 |
| iPad 12.9" | 1200 x 1600 or 900 x 1200 (and the landscape pairs) |
| iPad 9.7" | 900 x 1200 / 1200 x 900 |
| Mac and Apple TV | 1920 x 1080 (landscape) |
| Apple Vision Pro | 3840 x 2160 (landscape) |
The iPhone 3.5" class does not support previews, and previews are not available for iMessage apps. Previews always appear before screenshots on the product page, and a preview with a different aspect ratio from your screenshots moves to the "A Closer Look" section.
Do custom product pages and in-app events use the same screenshots?
They can reuse them, but each has its own slots. You can create up to 70 custom product pages per app, and each one can have different screenshots, app previews, promotional text and keywords (Apple). Screenshots and previews live in Asset Library, so you can pick existing ones instead of uploading again (Apple).
In-app event media and the new creative assets use their own sizes entirely. Creative assets (the product page header and search results artwork) are optional and appear on iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 or later (Apple). The sizes, from Apple's creative assets page (Apple):
| Placement | Aspect ratio | Size | Format |
|---|---|---|---|
| Product page header | 21:9 | 3840 x 1646 | .jpeg, .jpg, .png (also video) |
| Product page header | 16:9 | 5244 x 2950 | .png |
| Search results | 3:2 | 1920 x 1280 to 3840 x 2560 | .jpeg, .jpg, .png (also video) |
| Search results | 16:9 | 5244 x 2950 | .png |
| In-app event card | 16:9 | 1920 x 1080 to 3840 x 2160 | .jpeg, .jpg, .png, 500 MB max |
| In-app event details page | 9:16 | 1080 x 1920 to 2160 x 3840 | .jpeg, .jpg, .png, 500 MB max |
Header and search videos run 5 to 30 seconds and in-app event videos 15 to 30 seconds, at 30 or 60 fps. Apple's best-practices page links Figma, Photoshop, Pixelmator and Sketch templates for the header and search results assets (Apple).
How do I capture App Store screenshots at the right size?
- Capture in Device Hub for exact sizes. In Xcode 27, run your app on a simulated or physical device in Device Hub, then click the Screenshot button below the device. Device Hub captures at the full resolution of the device, whatever your Mac's display, and saves to the Desktop (Apple). Apple's accepted screenshot sizes match the device resolutions it lists for each class on the app preview page, so pick a simulated device from the class you need (the tables above list them).
- Clean up the status bar.
xcrun simctl status_bar booted override --time "9:41" --batteryState charged --batteryLevel 100sets a fixed time and a full battery on a booted simulator, andxcrun simctl status_bar booted clearundoes it. These flags are from the tool's own help text in Xcode 27; the command dates back to Xcode 11 (Jesse Squires). - Watch the mask option.
xcrun simctl io booted screenshot shot.pngalso captures from the command line. Its--maskoption can save the rounded display corners as transparency (alpha), which breaks Apple's no-alpha rule, so useblackorignored. - On a real iPhone or iPad, use SDR. Apple's capture settings save HDR screenshots as HEIF and SDR screenshots as PNG (Apple). App Store Connect only takes JPEG and PNG, so choose SDR in Settings > General > Screen Capture before you capture. The same applies on supported Macs with macOS Tahoe 26 or later: the HDR capture format saves HEIF (Apple), so pick SDR under Options > Capture Format in the Screenshot app (Shift-Command-5).
- visionOS captures may need resizing. Apple notes that captures from a visionOS simulator can differ in size and ratio from the device, so you may need to resize or crop them to match the specs (Apple).
- Mac apps need 16:10. All four Mac sizes are 16:10. A window capture (Shift-Command-4, then the Space bar) includes the window's shadow unless you hold Option while you click (Apple), and it won't be 16:10 on its own, so place it on a 16:10 canvas at one of the accepted sizes. Whatever you export must be flat, with no transparent areas.
How do I frame screenshots for marketing?
Disclosure: we make Pizazoo. For launch posts, press kits and your website, the free Screenshot Beautifier puts a screenshot on a gradient or solid background with padding, rounded corners, a shadow and an optional macOS window frame, then exports a PNG in your browser without uploading it. Its canvas presets are auto, 1:1, 4:3, 16:9, X (1600 x 900) and Open Graph (1200 x 630), so it does not produce App Store sizes: product page slots still need the exact pixel sizes above. If you want a JPEG copy (JPEG has no transparency at all), the free image converter turns a PNG into a JPG in the browser too.
