Redact, blur, and protect every screenshot.

Screenshots leak more than people realise: email addresses in tab bars, account IDs in URLs, faces in Slack avatars, addresses in receipts, secrets in QR codes. Pizazoo’s redaction tools make it one click to clean a screenshot before sharing it.

TL;DR — Pizazoo redacts sensitive parts of a screenshot in two ways: manually (drag a black/blur/pixelate region) and automatically (PII auto-redact + QR auto-blur). Everything runs on your Mac — no cloud upload — and the original stays intact so you can revert later.

What it does

  • Manual redact — drag any region to apply solid block, blur, or pixelate
  • AIAuto-redact PII — detect and cover emails, phone numbers, credit cards
  • AIQR auto-blur — protect tickets, boarding passes, 2FA codes
  • Spotlight + magnifier — highlight one area while dimming the rest
  • Watermark — stamp a tracking-friendly mark on the redacted version
  • Non-destructive — the original screenshot is preserved

Perfect for

  • Send a redacted invoice to your accountant without exposing the card number
  • Share an error screenshot with support after blurring your email address
  • AIPost a screenshot of a boarding pass on social with the barcode auto-blurred
  • AIDocument a bug in a tenant’s system without leaking customer PII

How to do it

  1. Open the screenshot in Pizazoo. Find the screenshot in your library and press Return (or click Edit). The markup editor opens with the screenshot loaded non-destructively.
  2. Pick a redaction tool. Choose Redact (solid block), Blur, or Pixelate from the toolbar. For automatic coverage, click Auto-redact PII or Blur QR codes.
  3. Drag over the sensitive region. Drag across the area you want to cover. Resize or remove the redaction anytime — it’s a non-destructive layer.
  4. Export or share. Use Save to write the redacted version into your library, or Share to send via Mail, Messages, or any macOS share target. The original stays untouched.

Common questions

FAQ

Can I un-redact a screenshot later?

Yes. Redactions are non-destructive layers in Pizazoo. Open the screenshot, remove the redaction layer, and the original pixels are restored.

Does auto-redact work offline?

Yes. PII detection uses Apple’s on-device Vision and NLP frameworks. No text, no image, and no metadata is uploaded.

What kind of PII can Pizazoo detect?

Emails, phone numbers, credit-card-shaped digit strings, and QR codes are covered automatically. For other patterns (names, account IDs) use a manual redact.

Is blur secure enough to share publicly?

Use the solid Redact tool for genuinely secret data — blur and pixelate can sometimes be reversed by image-recovery tools. Pizazoo defaults to solid block for auto-redacted PII.

Can I bulk-redact multiple screenshots?

Single-screenshot redaction is supported in 1.0.2. Bulk redact is on the roadmap.
