Privacy Policy

Privacy policy for the Pizazoo website and app.

Effective date: 23 March 2026. Pizazoo is built to keep screenshot organization local to your Mac. This page explains what information is processed when you use the website, purchase a license, or contact us.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how Pizazoo handles information through the Pizazoo website, the Pizazoo macOS app, purchase flows, and license restore flows.

The short version is simple: the app is designed to keep your screenshots on your Mac. Where we do need information to run the business, we keep that limited to what is needed for purchases, support, and service operations.

2. What the app processes locally on your Mac

Pizazoo is built around on-device processing. Your screenshots, the text detected inside them, your categories, notes, tags, saved searches, and your organized library are intended to stay on your Mac.

We do not use your screenshots as training data, and the app is designed so your screenshot content does not need to be uploaded to provide its core organization features.

3. Information we may collect through the website and services

If you use the website, request a license restore, contact support, or buy a license, we may process limited information needed to provide those services. This includes your email address, purchase-related details, and basic technical request information such as timestamps and browser or device metadata sent during normal web requests.

The current backend also stores limited operational event data for download, first-launch, and app-update events. Those records can include platform, app version, country code, user agent, referrer, free-form metadata, a creation timestamp, and a SHA-256 hash of the request IP address for deduplication. The event table is described as anonymous telemetry in the current backend schema.

4. Payments and billing

Payments are handled by Paddle, our payment provider and merchant of record for checkout flows. When you purchase through Paddle, billing and payment information is processed according to Paddle's own privacy terms and systems.

We may receive purchase status and license-related information needed to activate, validate, restore, and support your purchase.

5. License restore and support

If you request a license restore, we process the email address you provide so we can send a restore code and help recover access to your purchase. The current backend creates a one-time restore token that is valid for 15 minutes, and used tokens are marked as used in the database.

If you contact support, we use the information you send us, including your email address and the contents of your message, to respond and resolve your request.

6. How we use information

We use information only where needed to operate the website and business side of Pizazoo. That includes processing purchases, restoring licenses, answering support requests, preventing abuse, maintaining service reliability, and understanding basic product operations.

We do not sell your personal information.

7. Sharing

We may share limited information with service providers that help us run Pizazoo, such as payment providers, hosting providers, and email delivery providers, but only to the extent needed for those services.

We may also disclose information if required by law or if necessary to protect the rights, safety, and operation of Pizazoo and its users.

8. Retention

The current backend does not implement a general automatic deletion schedule for business records, event records, or restore-token rows. In practice, backend records are retained until they are manually deleted or a future cleanup policy is implemented.

Restore tokens do have an expiry time for use, but expiry is not the same as deletion. The current implementation checks whether a restore token is expired before allowing it to be used, and marks older unused tokens as used when a new restore request is created, but the rows are not automatically purged from the database.

Data that lives only on your Mac remains under your control on your device unless you choose to remove it or uninstall the app.

9. Your choices

You can choose whether to purchase, whether to contact support, and whether to request a license restore. You can also uninstall the app and delete local app data from your Mac at any time.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will publish the updated version on this page and update the effective date below.
